March 16, 2008 Flyers V Penguins

I really think that this is becoming monotonous. After yesterday's debacle against the Bruins I mentioned key points about defense and goaltending. Today, it rang true again. Poor goaltending, a team defense that is similar to a sieve and an ineffective offense led to a 7-1 loss and possibly the end of the road for the playoff hunt. I know, I know. Two short years ago the Oilers barely made it to the playoffs and proceeded to play in game 7 of the Cup finals. That is a totally different situation. In this hockey game the team is showing no leadership from within and more importantly looks like they are ready to store their gear and head out to the golf course now. There is no hunger and no immediacy to their play. The Penguins cut them apart today like a surgical team. One measly goal on against an average defense and ok goalie is pathetic. The coaching has to be looked at right about now. I know I mentioned this before, but how can a team roll over in the midst of a playoff race? Enough said.
